A Look Back | ‘Coachella: 20 Years in the Desert’ Documentary

The musical festival season of 2020 has come to an abrupt stop. Coachella joined the list of music festival cancellations due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Lucky for music fans, artists and venues have banded together for live streams, bringing music to our living rooms in the process. Today we get another dose of music, this time around as we get to watch the Coachella: 20 Years in the Desert documentary.

The film follows the cultural phenomenon of Coachella, offering a from its humble beginnings to becoming the biggest festival on the planet. The documentary is available to watch for free via YouTube Originals, and it’s a great way to spend the next two hours of your life. Highlights include convincing Prince to headline Coachella 2008, Dr. Dre‘s headlining set featuring the iconic 2Pac hologram, and much more. The film also takes a look at the architecture and sound system set-ups, which have evolved in incredible ways. The film is an interesting look into the festival and its incredible evolution.
