An Inside Look! ‘Fantasy’ by Sam Friedman On Display At The WOAW Gallery

The WOAW Gallery, in association with Library Street Collective, presents ‘Fantasy’ By Sam Friedman. Mr. Friedman is known for his abstract works, which are rooted in the tradition of American Abstract Expressionist painters. Exploring lines, colors, and the systematic application of paint, Friedman moves between representational and abstract depictions.

The exhibition features paintings that explore concerns of paint, tools, and surfaces that relate to the scale of the human body. The artist spoke about the influences and inspiration behind his work. Mr. Friedman stated: “I have had a long-time affinity for Rockaway Beach. Many of my landscapes reference this closeness I have with the beach’s natural landscape, the color and movement and joy I’ve experienced there. During this time of uncertainty around the world, I find being able to enjoy the same freedoms I experienced at Rockaway Beach to feel like an otherworldly dream, a fantasy.”
