The Japanese leather experts over at Hender Scheme are back with another collaboration. After expanding its ongoing adidas collaboration, the iconic brand has returned with a new partnership. Hender Scheme and Dr. Martens have come together for a duo of exceptionally unique derby shoes. The two brands have created a classic 1461 and a new HOMAGE model for Fall. Each silhouette comes with lavish detail and bold quality, creating something quite impressive and intriguing.
The HOMAGE series is Hender Scheme’s claim to fame. Previous HOMAGE models include faux Crocs and Converse Chuck Taylors, garnering plenty of hype. This time around, we find Dr. Martens 1461 design inspired by the “Manual Industrial Products 21.” The silhouette features raw veg-tanned leather that will age and darken with wear. A stacked wooden sole and waxed leather laces elevate the design. We also see a leather outsole engraved with the same verbiage as the signature Dr. Martens rubber sole unit. The England-made 1461 is crafted from full-grain leather, rendered in black. Dr. Martens’ famous yellow stitching and slip-resistant rubber outsole are left intact.

However, the most notable aspect is the removable leather kiltie on the laces. Offered in both black and veg-tanned leather to match the cotton and leather laces, this makes a nice dose of style and detail. The design is then finished off with a strip of raw leather graces the heel, with gold Hender Scheme branding on the tongue. Hender Scheme’s site currently offers a Japanese raffle and closer look at the shoes. Winner’s are set to be announced on September 28th — the same day that the collaborative items will see an international release.
