The one and only Jazz Cartier is back. The wordsmith has been doing the independent thing since his split with Capitol Records/Universal Music Canada in 2018. Today the wordsmith is back, arriving with a new single and word of a new album set to arrive early next year. As for the single, Jazz unleashes a slick new single called “Basement” produced by Lil Rich.
The track finds Mr. Cartier showing off his depth and lyrical prowess while detailing the “turbulent journey that many rappers take as they try to make a name for themself in the rap game.”
Jazz recently opened up about the track and spoke about its inspiration. He stated: “The single encapsulates the entire journey from the beginning to now, learning who to trust and not as well as remembering to stay steadfast. ‘Basement’ is me looking into the mirror, seeing how far I’ve come, and knowing I still have more to go.” Lil Rich provides an infectious backdrop for the wordsmith to excel, and the wordsmith reciprocates nicely.
