With a brand new album on the horizon, Khalid has been a busy man inside the studio. While we patiently await his next opus, Khalid returns with a new mixtape for our listening enjoyment. Friday, the Texas-bred singer/songwriter dropped a new project entitled ‘Scenic Drive.’ The new mixtape is packed with impressive new material, serving as a gift for his fans. The artist opened up about the mixtape and what we can expect from his upcoming album.
Khalid stated: “On Everything Is Changing, all of the songs center around trying to find a purpose and a sense of self in a world where everything is digitally connected but emotionally disconnected.” He went on to add, “As we all come out of quarantine and venture more into the world and try to reconnect with people we haven’t seen in over a year, I hope the messages explored within the album open up conversations and allow people to access their feelings in a new way.” ‘
Scenic Drive,’ his new mixtape, comes locked in with nine new singles, which showcase the artist’s effortless appeal behind the mic. Along the way, Khalid does his thing and does it well, linking up with an impressive roster of special guests. He’s joined by the likes of Alicia Keys, J.I.D, Ari Lennox, Lucky Daye, 6LACK, Smino, Majid Jordan, Quin, and Kiana Lede, which results in some impressive and contagious new listening material. A few of our favorites include “Backseat,” “All I Feel Is Rain,” featuring JID, and “Open” with Majid Jordan.
