Tory Lanez – ‘Chixtape 5’

It’s never a bad day when we get some new tunes from Tory Lanez. Today the Toronto native is back with a brand new mixtape, serving up the highly anticipated ‘Chixtape 5.’ The project arrives nearly three years after the fourth installment. However, Tory doesn’t disappoint, unleashing a barrage of smooth new sounds for our listening enjoyment. The artist recently opened up about the wait and why it took so long for the new installment.

He stated: “2000-2006, I want to personally thank these six years for being the main inspiration to the samples and nostalgia used on Chixtape 5.” He added, “I have never went this hard on the production of any of my albums.” The project features a collection of songs that uses samples from the first half of the 2000s. He then took things a step further and invited the original artists to help rock on the revised tracks.

The result is something unique and impressive, to say the least. The project features the likes of Lil Wayne, Fabolous, Trey Songz, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, Jagged Edge, Mya, and many more. The mixtape comes loaded up with seventeen new tracks, led by the single “Jerry Sprunger” features T-Pain. The rest of the album is littered with gems that we wouldn’t suggest sleeping on.

Check out the impressive new collection in the stream below and look for more new music coming soon. In the meantime, be sure to check out the latest installment of our weekly playlist, ‘A Curation of Sound.’
