Ty Dolla $ign & Bella Alubo – “G.O.A.T.”

May 21st would have been the 50th birthday of the late-great Notorious B.I.G. To celebrate, his family and estate held a ceremony at The Empire State Building. The building was lit in red and white with a crown spinning on the building’s mast. A video montage of his music also played from the entrance of the Barclays Center, while the MTA offered limited edition Biggie MetroCards throughout Brooklyn.

The west coast native Ty Dolla $ign decided to pay homage to the MC in his own way. The artist joined forces with Bella Alubo for a new track entitled “G.O.A.T.” The single repurposes Biggie’s verse from “I Love The Dough,” adding an Afrobeat-inflected track for good measure. The track is certainly unique and infectious.

Biggie’s mother, Voletta Wallace, spoke about the track and the legacy of her son’s music. She stated: “It’s wonderful to witness my son’s music reimagined for his fans and today’s generation of young men and women to embrace his art.” She added, “I appreciate the hard work of all involved in bringing together the perfect blend of voices and music to this song.”

Check out the new track, “G.O.A.T.,” in the stream below and look for much more from Ty Dolla $ign coming very soon. While you’re at it, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more new music coming very soon.
