Eating Options | ‘Consumer Reports’ Names Most-Healthy Restaurant Chains

The good folks over at Consumer Reports are back at it. Today they have released a list of 17 most healthy fast-food restaurants and restaurant chains. The current pandemic has forced many people to stay home, and the report weights out the options to keep things balanced.

The report takes a look at several variables and enforces consumers to ask five main questions. These include: What sort of drinks are offered? Are whole grains used? Are there fruits and vegetables readily available? How much salt is present in their items? What about saturated fats? The report also factors details such as if the restaurant’s beef has antibiotics present and how many artificial ingredients are added.

Consumer Reports nutritionist Amy Keating spoke about the report. She stated: “Different chains have different takes on the health trend. We wanted to look at the so-called burger or pasta places to see how they’ve reshaped their menus. But we also wanted to see how well healthy-minded diners could eat at places that advertise fresh ingredients, like Panera Bread and Chipotle, as well as at restaurants where health is the founding principle, like CoreLife Eatery.”

The top of the list includes places such as CoreLife Eater, Sweetgreen, Chopt, and True Food Kitchen. On the other side of things, we find McDonald’s, Subway, Olive Garden, Applebee’s, and Domino’s Pizza. Starbucks, Panda Express, Chick-Fil-A, and Noodles ranked in the middle of the pack.
