Style Season! Jil Sander+ & Birkenstock Reveal New Capsule Collection

After pairing up with Rick Owens on an interesting new collaboration Birkenstock is back in the news. This time around, the footwear label has aligned with Jil Sander for a new collaborative capsule. The new release comes through the label’s Jil Sander+ line, inspired by nature and life outside the city. The collaboration features three classic silhouettes that have been reworked and one new design that is being introduced for the first time.

The collaboration includes the Milano, Arizona, and Berlin silhouettes, adding larger outsoles, enlarged and elongated straps, and thinner buckles. The details arrive in satin nickel, while all three styles are either raw-edged calfskin or suede, finished with cream, olive, or black colorways. The capsule is finished off by the Velan, a new design inspired by the Berlin closed-toe sandal.

The design boasts a soft Nappa strap that can be wrapped around the wearer’s ankles. Jil Sander creative directors Lucie and Luke Meier spoke about the collaboration. The duo stated: “We have worn Birkenstocks for as long as we can remember. They are comfortable to wear but also comforting. They have been with us in some remarkable places, from camping in the Canadian wilderness to sitting fireside in the Swiss Alps. However, the quality and integrity of Birkenstock is what convinced us to work with them.”

The collaboration is set to arrive for pre-launch via the Jil Sander and Birkenstock 1774 web stores on July 1st. However, we can expect a global launch a week later. Take a closer look at the collaboration in the images and get your favorites immediately. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more eye-catching footwear.
