Case Studyo and Brooklyn-based artist Jonathan Chapline are no strangers to one another. They’ve worked together in the past for his Supporting Figures edition, and they are back at it again. This time around, Case Studyo and Jonathan Chapline have released a series of Standing Bather sculptures. The latest edition pulls inspiration from the archetypal bathing subject in Western art.
Case Studyo opened up about the statue and its inspiration. They stated: “From ancient Greece to the European art movements of the 1920s and beyond, painters and sculptors have been inspired by the ritual of bathing and have presented their versions of a bather with a wide variety of objectives.”
They went on to add, “[Jonathan Chapline] deconstructs the figure in order to refract and rearrange the body, shining light to its essence and finding sensuality in construction.”
The artist has created a colorful, abstract design that comes in three fluorescent variants. Offered in yellow, pink, and blue, the sculptures stand 12 inches tall and arrive in bespoke wooden packaging.
