The world is an ever-changing place. The good folks over at CEOWORLD Magazine recently compiled a report regarding the most expensive countries to live in the world for 2020. The results are in, and Switzerland has taken the top spot. The Central European country tops the list, while joined by several other locations throughout Europe. Nine of the top twenty are European countries this time around. This data is compiled through multiple metrics in order to determine the most expensive countries.
The data is collected and reviewed from “dozens of studies,” as well as the consumer price index and Numbeo Cost of Living Index. The magazine then compared stats such as costs of living, as well as accommodations, clothing, transportation, utilities, and more. After gathering the data and creating an index, CEOWORLD then chose New York City to serve as its benchmark. For countries that scored above a 100 were considered “more expensive” than NYC, while scoring below was considered “cheaper.” Switzerland came in first, followed by Norway, Iceland, Japan, and Denmark in the top five. The United States made the top twenty as well, while five countries came from Asia.
