Li-Ning has linked up with Miami native Rick Ross for a special collection of sneakers. The two have linked up to revamp of Dwayne Wade’s signature sneakers. The MMG head honcho puts his touches on two different models, revealing new iterations of the Way of Wade Essence Ace and Way of Wade 7. The collaborative collection marks the Chinese brand’s first artist partnership. The collaborative effort was formulated by retired NBA superstar Dwayne Wade, as Ross and Wade have a deep connection due to their residences in Miami.
Ross puts a unique twist on the Way Of Wade 7, rocking a black base with opulent gold and regal purple detailing. There is a removable black crown that wraps around the heel, uncovering a “Self Made” text, which is seen when it’s removed. Each pair also includes a unique number on the heel collar. Each pair is limited to just 500 pairs, boasting branded details on the tongue, heel tab, and toe box.
The all-red Essence Ace features a mixed material design that is stylish and eye-catching. The upper comes with a mesh base overlaid with premium pebbled leather. The gold metal badges on the toe box, quarter, and tongue tab elevate the design, adding a nice contrast to the upper. The sneakers are finished off with a three-piece midsole features a Li-Ning logo on the front. The sneaker is capped off with Chinese characters on the midfoot and Ross’s stylized moniker towards the heel.
