Changing The Game | adidas Is Producing 3D-Printed Face Shields

The good folks over at adidas are back, shifting their focus a bit in the face of the COVID-19 crisis. Today the word comes down that adidas has begun crafting protective equipment in order to help provide relief to those on the front lines. The brand with the three stripes has linked up with Carbon to produce 3D-printed face shields. The two have worked together in the past on 3D-printed footwear. Now they have switched things up at its California-based manufacturing facilities.

As of now, more than 18,000 face shields are being produced per week. These will be allocated to first responders and healthcare professionals around the world. The two are utilizing Carbon’s 3D-printed lattice structures to create the innovative molds. This unique craftsmanship reduces material usage, increases printing times, and enhances comfort for the wearer. Carbon has even opened up the print files to its entire network. That means that anyone with the company’s printer and proper production materials can begin making the face shields as well. Adidas has also provided support to the World Health Organization, the Red Cross, and multiple organizations in China.

This is just the latest example of brand’s changing their focus to help get us through these tough times. Head over to adidas to find out more and be sure to stay tuned with The Culture Curators for more from the world of style and health coming soon.
