The good folks over at Reebok are back with something new. This time around, the sportswear giant returns to unveil Courting Greatness, an all-new digital tool that uses augmented reality to help players map out court features anywhere, anytime. Courting Greatness lets players find court features on walls, fences, parking lots, and more while using existing camera and measurement features in mobile phones.
The tool allows users to map out the exact dimensions of a regulation-sized court, including a free throw line, 10-foot hoop, three-point line, or key. The brand will work with local artists in major cities to construct playable basketball art installations to inspire creativity. The first comes from the NYC creative collective New York Sunshine Install Team to honor the upcoming Question Mid “Iverson Four.”
The design was inspired by the ’04 men’s basketball national team uniforms worn in Greece, where A.I. wore the jersey number “4.” New York Sunshine Install Team’s installation will be located at 29 Fifth Avenue in Brooklyn in NY until August 20th. The elements of the sculpture were inspired by the Question Mid Iverson Four with nods to the sneaker’s key colors. The installation provides an opportunity for fans and players of any age group or experience level the chance to enjoy interacting with the installation.
Take a closer look at the video below for a closer look and head over to Reebok to find out more. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more from the intersection of art and lifestyle.
