The beautiful and incredibly talented, Ciara is back. The songstress made her return this Friday, unleashing an energetic new single called “Melanin.” The track arrived ahead of her gig as the host of the 2019 American Music Awards, and Ci Ci doesn’t disappoint. The track is driven by this old school inspired by backdrop of energetic drums sections, punchy bass drums, and accented with fitting melodic elements. The infectious backdrop provides the songstress and her friends with a perfect place to showcase their respective talents.
They all do so and do it well, coming together for something empowering and contagious. The retro aesthetic of the track continues from front to back, offering something perfect for the club, the crib, the ride to work, and more. The track finds Ciara linking up with a few friends on the track, including Lupita Nyong’o, Ester Dean, the City Girls, and LA LA. She recently opened up about “Melanin,” stating: “It is girl power, melanin queen power happening on this record, and I’m so honored and so proud of it.” The songstress went on to add, “The energy is crazy. It’s energy, tempo, that good old 808, Miami bass songs. It’s just so good. I’m excited.”
