Harlem-based fashion designer Dapper Dan and GAP are back at it once again. After serving up a collection of hoodies that quickly sold out, the two have joined forces to release some new colors of the special-edition “DAP GAP” hoodies. The second drop will introduce a bevy of new colors, including “Sky Blue,” “Rose Pink,” “Golden Yellow,” and “Black.”
Each hoodie is made from 77% cotton and 23% recycled polyester while boasting applique “DAP” across the chest, kanga pockets, banded cuffs and hems, and a drawcord hood. Dapper Dan recently opened up about the collection, stating: “What I wanted to do is de-stigmatize the hoodie.” He added, “That’s why you see me with a hoodie on with an ascot. All of us in the culture wear hoodies. All of us in the culture are not the same.” Dapper Dan went on to add, “To come together is what makes it so beautiful about what I can do in this space with the Gap.” He then said, “The important part is for Gap to be a crossover because you’re reaching everybody now. It’s that major crossover in fashion that’s both upstairs and downstairs at the same time, and everybody can feel good about wearing it.”
