Mercedes-Benz is back, and they have an eye on the future. The automaker returns to reveal its most sustainable luxury vehicle to date. The Mercedes EQS is the German brand’s first all-electric sedan, also serving as an extension of the S-Class models. CEO of Daimler AG and Mercedes-Benz AG, Ola Källenius, released a statement that reads: “The EQS is designed to exceed the expectations of even our most discerning customers.”
The statement goes on to add, “That’s exactly what a Mercedes has to do to earn the letter ’S’ in its name. Because we don’t award that letter lightly.” The EQS blends design, luxury, and comfort while offering unique features throughout. The all-electric design features a sleek yet classy exterior, while the interior boasts a range of modern elements and unique features. The vehicle has an optional touchscreen system that spans across the entire dashboard. Users will have access to a new face-recognition system that will be able to tell who is driving the car, adjusting the settings accordingly.
The EQS also features a Power Nap option, in which drivers can recharge along with the car on long road trips. The option will automatically adjust the seats, while the windows and sunshade will dim to create a laid-back atmosphere. Blending luxury and power, the EQS will offer up to 516 horsepower and 611 ft. lbs. of torque with a range of around 478 miles. The Mercedes-Benz EQS is set to hit dealerships later this year; however, no official release date has been confirmed.
