The legendary duo known as Gang Starr is back. Today the fellas return with a new single, which arrives as fans patiently await their new album, One of the Best Yet. DJ Premier recently announced the project, and the album is slated to arrive on November 1st. Today the fellas are back as DJ Premier and Guru serve up a solid new effort entitled “Bad Name.”
The track features Premier’s signature boom-bap drums and those crisp scratches. Guru then takes to the mic and laces us with his uncanny and undeniable wordplay. The track is another solid offering from the duo as they touch on the quality of rap and the politics behind it. These two were ahead of their time, and the track was actually recorded before Guru’s untimely passion. This is certainly one of our favorite new tracks, and it’s certainly one worth adding to your listening rotation.
The track is from the duo’s impending project, which is slated to be the final Gang Starr album ever. This marks the end of an era.
