Icons Of Style | The Velvet Underground x Supreme Fall 2019 Collection

A new collaboration from Supreme seems to a weekly occurrence as we roll into Fall. Today the iconic streetwear imprint has paired up with one of New York’s more influential avant-garde bands, The Velvet Underground. The collection celebrates this legendary band, led by singer/songwriter/guitarist Lou Reed. Known for their unfiltered music while exploring raw themes of addiction, desire and more, the band made a name for themselves in the mid-’60s.

Supreme celebrates this legendary band with a range of apparel that boats original artwork from the band’s catalog. The Velvet Underground was managed for a while by fellow New York artist Andy Warhol. Their debut album, The Velvet Underground & Nico is easily identified due to Warhol’s iconic yellow and black Banana artwork featured at the front.

The original artwork boasts the banana art as a peelable sticker, that when peeled off revealed a peeled pink banana. The band went on to reach cult status, influencing the likes of everyone from Nirvana to Wes Anderson.

The new Fall 2019 collaboration from Supreme includes ringer tees, hoodies, and T-shirts. Throughout we find original artwork from the band’s discography, even draped upon a rayon shirt as well.

Take a closer look at this eye-catching capsule below. The full collection will arrive in-store at New York, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, London, Paris, and also online on September 19th. Keep it locked for more new Fall and Winter fashion coming soon.
