The Dreamville representative known as J.I.D is back. Today the wordsmith returns, and he arrives with a brand new single for our listening enjoyment. While we patiently await his upcoming project, The Forever Story, J.I.D is back with an impressive new single entitled “Skegee.” The track’s name comes from an abbreviation of Tuskegee, a historically black university in Alabama that once recruited J.I.D.
The track is pushed by this incredibly contagious melodic element which is seamlessly paired with some slick, catchy drum work. The combination provides the wordsmith with an incredible home to do his thing upon. J.I.D excels, taking the chance to speak about the city and the school’s history about the way. The track also comes to life with a fitting set of visuals, which were shot in Tuskegee, Alabama. The wordsmith spoke about the track and its significance.
He stated: “We all know Black History is every month, but I wanted to drop something to highlight this month specifically.” This man never lets us down, and he certainly doesn’t start with this one.
