Kali Uchis – Solita

The beautiful and incredibly talented, Kali Uchis is back! She’s back at it with a brand new single, serving up “Solita.” The track follows her debut studio album, Isolation, which dropped last year. The new single was produced by J Balvin, frequent Bad Bunny collaborator Tainy, as well as Sevn Thomas and Jahaan Sweet. The nearly three-minute track finds Kali showing off her talents behind the mic, getting an infectious backdrop to excel upon. “Solita” marks the artist’s first bilingual single. She starts the track off in Spanish, followed by a verse in English, before flipping back to Spanish with a catchy hook.

The instrumental is driven by this crisp reggaeton backdrop. We hear soulful vocal harmonies and spaced-out synths, which makes Kali a nice home to showcase her talents behind the mic. She takes to the instrumental, and flawlessly does her thing. She also spoke about in-depth about the track. Uchis stated: “this song is about healing, freedom and embracing the mixed emotions that come with that. I hope my fans feel sexy when they listen to it. I’m so excited to share more.”

She went on to translate the hook, stating, “The hook basically translates to, ‘I’d rather dance alone than with the devil.’ I think that just goes back to wanting to feel empowered about independence, rather than feel like, ‘Oh, poor me, I’m alone.’ It’s not really like that.” Don’t sleep on this one.
