Lady Leshurr – Carmen

For anyone unfamiliar with the talents of Lady Leshurr, you are missing out. Today the British wordsmith is back with something new for our listening enjoyment, paying homage to her late sister with a new single called “Carmen.” The new track arrives on what would have been her 40th birthday, and Lady Leshurr provides something somber and sweet.

The Kingshurst-bred artist spoke about the track and writing it. She stated: “Hardest song I’ve ever had to make.” She continued to describe the track, stating: “Took a break from music, even more so that my sister recently passed. It would’ve been her 40th birthday today and her husband’s 46th. Sadly, they both died of cancer. This is my gift and letter to her and to my family, so my sister’s name forever lives on.” Carmen Celestina Randell lost her battle to cancer late last year on October 23, 2019.

Leshurr took to IG to open up a bit more. She told her followers: “Losing my sis to breast cancer has been the worst thing to happen in my life ever. Losing a mother has got to be even harder.” She followed that up with a call to action for prayers, as well as asking folks to share the track with anyone who may need to see this message. She ended the caption by urging folks to get tested and screened as early detection is key.
