Skate x Style | Mark Gonzales’s “Wallenburg” adidas Aloha Super

Last year the good folks over at adidas debuted Mark Gonzales’ Aloha Super. The sneaker was a hit, and today, the eye-catching silhouette returns. Today we get a look at the new “Wallenburg” colorway of the Aloha Super, offering up a new colorway with a classic look. Gonzales is one of the most revered and influential skateboarders in history. The “Wallenburg” was inspired by his legacy in the game and one of his most memorable moments.

Mark performed the “Wallenburg Ollie” over the famed four-blocks at San Francisco’s Raoul Wallenberg High School as part of Blind Skateboards’ seminal 1991 film Video Days. The legendary trick was a point of reference for the sneakers. This Aloha Super’s color scheme references the setting and the backdrop of the trick. The pink logo on the tongue and pink insoles nod to the visible setting sun. The black Three Stripe graphic on the lateral midfoot tacitly acknowledges Wallenberg’s black asphalt. The shoe’s shape takes notes from the adidas adiStar fencing shoe that Gonz, which was worn during another one of Mark’s memorable moments. The crisp white leather upper is reinforced with grey suede, and a gum sole unit finishes things off.

The adidas Skateboarding Aloha Super “Wallenburg” will release at adidas.com and select retailers globally on November 2nd. Take a closer look at the sneaker in the images below and keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more style, sneakers and streetwear coming soon.
