Way back in 2007, Timberland set new standards for eco-conscious design with its original Earthkeepers® boot. Now Timberland returns to unveil the Brooklyn EK+, an Earthkeepers® Edition footwear collection that once again reflects the brand’s expression of eco-innovation. The new Brooklyn EK+ was designed and made in line with the theme of “Reduce. Recycle. Rethink.”
The sneakers come rocking uppers, linings, and laces made of 100% ReBOTL™ material, while the soles were crafted with 34% recycled rubber. The sport-inspired silhouette is incredibly lightweight, boasting an Aerocore™ Energy System for high-rebound cushioned comfort. The design is a perfect option for lighter weather, offering a contemporary look with quality craftsmanship. Colleen Vien, sustainability director for Timberland, spoke about the sneakers. She stated: “Around the world, the use of plastic water bottles is on the rise, and many of these end up in our landfills and oceans.” She then added, “As a global community, we need to re-think how we’re using our resources. At Timberland, our goal is for 100% of our footwear to have at least one major component made using recycled, organic, or renewable material. Today we’re at 75%, thanks to styles like the Brooklyn EK+.” Over time, Timberland has given the equivalent of more than 345 million plastic bottles new life in its products offering style with a sustainable aesthetic.
The new Brooklyn EK+ Collection is out now, and it can be found at select Timberland stores in U.S. and Europe, as well as online at Timberland.com. Take a closer look at the new silhouette in the images and pick yours up asap!
