Back in 2013, Elon Musk released his Hyperloop Alpha white paper. The idea of futuristic high-speed train travel captivated us all. Then in 2017, the Hyperloop underwent a successful full-scale test. Shortly thereafter, Hyperloop One and Virgin Group agreed to a partnership while adding a focus on mixed-cargo.
Today Hyperloop is back in the news as an announcement regarding the new Certification Center location: West Virginia. The move certainly brings the concept closer to reality. The site is set to host a test track, which will be critical to ensuring the Hyperloop train is up to code. The Department of Transportation has released a guidance document that provides a look towards Hyperloop regulation.
Does this mean that the Hyperloop concept will become the train of today? We can only hope, but it certainly looks promising.
Take a closer look at the concept in the renderings and look for more Hyperloop news coming soon. In the meantime, be sure to keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more tech news coming very soon.
