After donating $1 billion USD to the fight against COVID-19, Twitter CEO and co-founder, Jack Dorsey is back. Today the Rick Owens aficionado is back in the news, pledging to donate $3 million USD to Colin Kaepernick‘s Know Your Rights Camp. The donation serves as part of his latest round of StartSmall business grants. Dorsey’s donation will help the organization with its mission.
The Know Your Rights Camp aims to “advance the liberation and well-being of Black and Brown communities through education, self-empowerment, mass-mobilization, and the creation of new systems that elevate the next generation of change leaders.” The Camp recently launched a Legal Defense Initiative to help jailed protestors in the United States. They are currently working with lawyers to file civil rights cases against police for “terroristic acts.”
In the past, they have held youth empowerment events in New York City, Atlanta, Chicago, and more. Other donations include $5 million USD to Oakland’s World Central Kitchen, $1 million USD to Dig Deep H20, and many more.
