The good folks over at Chanel are back in the news feed. Today they return with a look at an unlikely partnership that is recently launched (kind of). The iconic fashion imprint has aligned with Axe to combine the “most treasured brand in luxury fragrance” and the “most reviled scent in locker rooms everywhere.” The collaboration comes in conjunction with MSCHF, though the latest “collaboration” is simply the latest gag.
The company is well known for its viral releases, and this one might just be their best yet. The company has taken Axe Body Spray and poured it into the iconic Chanel No. 5 bottle, revealing a bright green, coolant-colored, liquid perfume. MSCHF stated: “‘Iconic’ is in no way synonymous with ‘good,’ and in the fragrance world, Axe deserves the label as much as Chanel.” They went on to add, “At the end of the day, where icons are concerned, there is no good or bad; There is merely visible and invisible.”
While Axe Body Spray brings back memories of high school, while Chanel No. 5 brings to mind luxury, style, and that legendary signature bottle. The Chanel x Axe collaboration didn’t last long.
