When Honda unleashed the SS50, it redefined the moped as a stylish ride that provided a new form of transportation. Today the good folk over at Torkel Doehmers return with a moped of the future, the Moppe Apparatus TD-MP1. This all-electric moped concept was inspired by the SS50, boasting unique style and outstanding functionality. The TD-MP1 is shaped like a classic cafe racer with details pulled from the SS50.
The low-mount grips, orange-tinted fairing, and skateboard seat are a nice touch, though the ducktail flip is a definite nod to the past. The moped also features a telescoping fork, dual rear shocks, hydraulic brakes for modern performance, and a hub-mounted electric motor. Doehmers added a built-in display for an iPhone dock providing riders with data readouts and more through an app.
While the TD-MP1 is just a concept, for now, we’re hoping to see it hit the market at some point. Take a closer look at the Apparatus TD-MP1 Moped and find out more from Doehmers right now. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators from the auto and moto news coming very soon.
