A Legend of Speed | 1995 Ferrari F50 Berlinetta Prototipo

In case you couldn’t tell, we enjoy things that go fast. Ferrari has been cranking out exceptional examples of speed for decades, and today we get a look at one such icon. Today we get a look at a 1995 Ferrari F50 Berlinetta Prototipo. Upon its arrival, then-Ferrari head Luca di Montezemolo introduced the vehicle. He stated: “Fifty years of racing, fifty years of winning, fifty years of hard work,” before officially introducing the car. Since the Geneva Auto Salon on March 6, 1995, the F50 went on to become an icon for the brand.

The F50 featured a lightweight carbon fiber tub, unequal-length wishbones at all four corners, and an all-new 4.7-liter V12. The 500 horsepower machine was capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 202 MPH. Only 349 of these were made, and the one pictured is a pre-production prototype. The ride was built to refine every aspect of the design. The car was pushed to its limits by former F1 champion Niki Lauda, along with Scuderia drivers Jean Alesi, Gerhard Berger, and legendary test driver Dario Benuzzi. It’s not only a piece of Ferrari history, but the car is also fully documented and is featured in the all-important Red Book. It can be yours! The vehicle is currently up for sale and would make the perfect Christmas gift for the auto enthusiast in your life.
