Alic Brock Presents ‘Screen Shot’

Alic Brock is known for creating intriguing and eye-catching works of art. The artist is based in Atlanta and creates superimposed human forms inspired by images of athletes, pop culture icons, and more. Rather than traditional paintings, Alic creates mosaics that boast outstanding attention to detail. The artist recently opened ‘Screen Shot’, his first solo exhibition on the west coast. The exhibition is currently on display at Simchowitz Gallery in Los Angeles.

The imagery includes everything from adidas tracksuits to Elvis and everything in between. The pieces reimagine these iconic details and images with an acrylic and airbrush aesthetic. The artist stated: “I like to keep in mind how these smaller, collaged shapes make up this greater whole. Like a mosaic, they can be indecipherable up close but make sense standing across the room. Each painting emphasizes subtraction by “removing anything imperfect in this very shallow, methodical way,” said the artist. He added, “It somehow feels natural for the famous person.”

Take a closer look at a few selections from ‘Screen Shot’ in the images below and find out more about the exhibition from the Simchowitz Gallery. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more outstanding artwork, exhibitions, and releases coming soon.
