Last week Big Sean made his triumphant return with the new single “Overtime.” Now The Detroit native is back with another new single, offering a deeper cut called “Single Again.” The track finds Sean pairing up with Jhene Aiko and Ty Dolla $ign, bringing a dose of their respective talents for something impressive. This latest batch of new music arrives after a bit of a hiatus for Sean, who seems to be in a better and clearer space.
Big Sean recently spoke about his time away and his current position in life. The wordsmith stated: “For the first time in my life I 100% believe in myself and that’s something I’m so happy I got to achieve in this lifetime. I think at one point, I stopped having fun with life, and it became a burden.” Big Sean went on to add “It’s not supposed to feel like that and if it is then change it. I always would find so much joy n happiness in a relationship or being with friends, but I didn’t know how important it was to be in a relationship with yourself.” He finished things up by saying “But when you work on yourself and bring your best self to something, I believe that’s truly how to experience a love where you are bringing happiness and joy and not dependency. I’m in a great place though n don’t want to get too deep, but I just want to share my journey with y’all…”
Big Sean never disappoints, and he certainly doesn’t start on this one. Sean’s lyrical prowess fits well with the vocals from Jhené Aiko & Ty Dolla $ign, while a sample of Carl Thomas’ “I Wish” makes quite the backdrop for the trio to excel.
