The one and only, Big Shug is back. The wordsmith returns with something new for our listening enjoyment, unleashing a smooth new track called “Still Big.” It’s a Gang Starr Foundation celebration on “Still Big,” a new single produced by DJ Premier. The track finds Shug getting down over the top of Premier’s signature head-nodding production and scratching. Premo then laces the hook with a Guru sample from Gang Starr’s classic, “Put Up or Shut Up.”
The track is the latest single from Shug’s upcoming album, The Diamond Report. The track arrives after the release of the video for “Family and Loyalty,” where Shug is featured throughout. The wordsmith takes a smooth instrumental and lets loose of his gritty lyricism. He speaks about his passion for the craft after decades in the game. He also shouts out his late friend, Guru, doing the same for Premo as well. He recently spoke about collaborating with Premier. Shug stated, “At some point, we’ll do an album that he’ll produce entirely.”
