2019 has been a year of big collaborations and outstanding partnerships. Following up their recent collaboration with the Gorillaz, Casio G-SHOCK is back with a brand new partnership. They’ve aligned with Herschel Supply Co for their first-ever watching collaboration. The two iconic imprints have teamed up for a co-branded Herschel G-Lide timepiece. This is a first for Herschel Supply, bringing their style into the watch market. The timepiece arrives as a GLX5600-1 model, a favorite among surfers, athletes, and streetwear fans.
The military-inspired design features a stainless-steel back cover engraved with “YOU CAN SURF LATER.” The watch also boasts electroluminescent backlight technology, as well as being water and shock resistance. The sleek design comes draped in a matte ‘Army Green’ resin case with a similarly colored band. Other features include a tide graph and moon data capabilities. These features allow you to wear the timepiece in all types of field and water activities.
Herschel Supply Co. x G-SHOCK
Jamie Cormack, Co-Founder of Herschel Supply, describes the inspiration behind the watch and its design. He stated: “YOU CAN SURF LATER’ is an engraving that was found on a now-iconic Zippo lighter of an American soldier. The lighter was customized with words of inspiration to transform his lighter into a talisman of sorts to help him get through his tour of duty. We used that commitment as inspiration along with military utility design and applied them to all aspects and details of our Casio G-SHOCK collaboration. This ‘first watch’ is for the dedicated bunch on dawn patrol surf sessions that balance their daily lives with what drives them.”
