It’s never a bad day when we get some new music from Black Thought. Today the lyricist is back, pairing up with the incredibly talented Ledisi for a powerful new single. The two have come together for a new effort entitled “American Heartbreak.”The track is the latest musical offering from HBO’s series, Between You & Me. The track finds Black Thought and Ledisi showcasing their respective talents flawlessly while touching on some tough subjects in the process.
The duo takes to an impressive instrumental while speaking on enduring struggle and pain. It’s something we can all relate to, and the two weave together some impressive lyrical content to drive home the point. The track finds Black Though opening up about social injustices and the racial divide, doing so with his lyrical prowess and smooth delivery. Ledisi takes to the track with her smooth, soulful, and powerful voice, adding a nice touch while helping to drive the message home.
The duo put together something special and effortlessly showcase their respective talents in the process. “American Heartbreak” isn’t the first single we’ve heard from the show. Nas’ “Fallen Stars Flying” was also heard on the series.
