Coast Contra – ‘Apt. 505’

In case you didn’t know, we love discovering new music. Along with the rest of the interwebs, we were put on to the talented foursome known as Coast Contra a few weeks ago. After an impressive freestyle session, the group consisting of RioLoz, Eric Jamal, Taj Austin, and Ras Austin have dropped off their debut album. The group has been putting in work for the past six years and recently served up their debut project entitled ‘Apt. 505.’

Eric Jamal spoke with KXSC Radio late last year and stated: “From living together and working together, we know whose strong point is what and whose weak point is what. We have a strong foundation of communication.” He added, “We all worked at a restaurant, so we take the same kind of things that we learned at a restaurant and take it over to the studio. There’s no ego, and we know whose role needs to be what. We all allow each other to share our thoughts and ideas. Now, one idea might be wild, corny, and bizarre, but we encourage ourselves to share those ideas because we never know what they might turn into.”

The debut album is named after their home base in LA, and they deliver something impressive. The project comes in with seventeen tracks and a bevy of impressive features. The group links up with the likes of BJ the Chicago Kid, Travis Walker, Sakari, and Kateel, while getting production from Jansport J, Mike & Keys, DeVan Hooker, Nino Beige, and others. A few notable standouts from the album include “My Lady,” “AF1,” “Legacy,” “On Tap,” “Explicit,” and “Pangea.” The four artists showcase their abilities and range, effortlessly putting together something outstanding for our listening enjoyment.

Check out the new project in the stream below and look for much more from Coast Contra coming very soon. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more outstanding new music coming very soon.
