For The Future! Mercedes-AMG Reveals A Plug-In Hybrid GT 4-Door Coupe

The good folks over at Mercedes-AMG are back at it. After introducing the standard GT 4-Door coupe earlier in the Summer, the automaker is back with something for the future. Today we get a look at the long-expected plug-in hybrid version of the GT 4-Door Coupe. The vehicle marks a big milestone for the company, marking the first performance plug-in hybrid from the German automaker.

The car pairs its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with an electric motor, capable of pushing out 831 horsepower and 1,033 pound-feet of torque. Impressive, right? Those specs are almost double to that of the petrol version’s 429 horsepower and triple of its 384 pound-feet of torque. The plug-in hybrid can run from 0 to 60 mph in just under three seconds on its way to a top speed of 196 mph.

Performance is the focus, which means that the hybrid powertrain will only provide an electric range of seven miles. However, when paired with Mercedes’ advanced all-wheel-drive system, its power is incredible. There Is no pricing information or release date yet, though the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door coupe is expected to launch sometime next year.
