Future Forms! Nixon Reveals The Light-Wave Watch

Like other companies, brands, and businesses, watchmakers are looking for new ways to stay up to date with today’s emphasis on “greener” technology. The good folks over at Nixon are known for crafting stylish timepieces, and today they are back with something new. Today we get our first look at Nixon’s Light-Wave watch, the solar-powered watch made from recycled ocean plastics. The Light-Wave watch is an ambitious, eco-friendly timepiece that combines progressive design with solar charging and recycled ocean plastic construction.

That makes the design a clean, green, time-telling machine. The translucent face features a view of the solar panel within. However, an eye-catching dial with bold details provides a stylish approach. The watch also features a unique case and strap design, adding to its aesthetic and charm. The analog Light-Wave uses reclaimed and recycled plastic from Swiss company #tide for its strap and case.

Each watch takes two plastic bottles out of circulation, while solar charging removes the need for single-use batteries. The 36mm Light-Wave also features skeleton hour and minute hands, providing a look inside at the movement.

Take a closer look at the Light-Wave watch in the images and head over to Nixon to find out more right now. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more style and sustainability coming soon.
