The last time we heard from Kevin Gates was back in July. The wordsmith served up a two-track EP for our listening enjoyment. Since then we haven’t a lot from him. Today that all changes! Baton Rouge’s very own, Kevin Gates is back! The wordsmith has a new album coming soon, and today he returns with a menacing new single. The track, “Double Dutch” is a gritty new loosie that arrives ahead of his upcoming album, ‘I’m Him.’
The single, “Double Dutch” finds Kevin Gates showing off his lyrical prowess over top of this hard-hitting instrumental. Pushed by these intense, street shaking bass sections, “Double Dutch” is filled with snappy percussion and minimal melodic elements. The combination has an ominous undertone while Kevin gives the track a dose of his delivery and style behind the mic.
The wordsmith provides quite an anthem for the streets on this one. He not only shows off his lyrical abilities flawlessly but in the process has us hyped about his new project. Never one to disappoint, Kevin Gates certainly doesn’t start on this one. There is no official word on if “Double Dutch” will make it to the album, but we’ll find out soon. There also isn’t an official release date for ‘I’m Him’ yet either.
