Old School x New School | Vans BMX 40th Anniversary Collection

The Van Doran family is forever ingrained in skateboarding history, but many don’t realize their ties to BMX as well. Vans, the original action sports brand began supporting BMX in 1979, becoming the first brand to support the sport. To commemorate this historic milestone, Vans presents an Anniversary Collection for men and women. Throwing back to the neon-clad roots of parking lot ramp demos and kids throwing themselves off of homemade jumps on every cul de sac in town, the collection celebrates yet another form of creative expression.

Only the Vans sticky waffle sole gripped a pedal than shin meat after a miss, making it the choice for BMX riders of the late ’70s and beyond. The unisex offering of the SK8-Hi Reissue and Era serve as the foundation for this honorary head to toe collection of assorted footwear and apparel. Footwear is constructed with Vans’ classic canvas and suede combination, and each style showcases a graphic Checkerboard printed quarter-panel that is available in three colorways including a shared green, white, and true navy. A reissued thumbs up heritage print on the sidewall finishes each footwear silhouette.

Eight new classically inspired apparel and accessory styles take it back with Vans Heritage graphics and BMX lifestyle silhouettes for men and women. A women’s BMX jacket featuring a poly flight satin shell and period-correct Vans logos is a major piece of the collection. Muscle tanks, socks, BMX pants, and a poly fabric backpack round out the women’s collection.

For men, Vans drops a BMX Off The Wall Track pant that features Checkerboard printed detailing down the leg and a coordinating BMX Off The Wall Anorak that has contrasting sleeves and front pocket detailing or the Pro Team look. The BMX Off The Wall long sleeve and the iconic BMX Painters Cap complete the offering. The Vans BMX 40th Anniversary Pack will be available to shop in Vans retail stores and online at Vans.com this August.
