Last month we got a look at a stunning collaboration between COMME des GARÇONS and the Jordan Brand. The two iconic brands have come together to revamp the Air Jordan 1, though they never announced official release date . Well, it turns out that CdG decided to drop the collaboration by surprise. COMME des GARÇONS confirmed that the highly anticipated collaboration released on August 2nd.
The kicks were released this weekend in-store at New York’s Dover Street Market and COMME des GARÇONS flagship. These are the only two locations to stock the sneakers in the Western hemisphere. Our first look at the collaboration came as part of the Japanese brand’s Fall/Winter 2019 runway presentation. The release marks the first collaboration between COMME des GARÇONS and the Jordan Brand. Though, we’re hopeful it won’t be the last.
The AJ1’s raised tongue and dangling metal accouterments that are a nice fit with the gothic themes present in the seasonal HOMME Plus collection. The shoes didn’t receive an official release day; instead, they arrived along with the FW19 goods, which have started to arrive at COMME des GARÇONS stockists.
The sneakers are nothing short of exceptional, arriving in both black and white colorways. Each pair comes with remarkable quality and next level attention to detail. Both brands showcase the best of their respective styles. The sneakers dropped over the week, arriving at the two COMME des GARÇONS-owned locations in New York. The sneakers have already launched in Japan, with resellers asking approximately $470 USD.
