Your Old Droog – Crab Cakes

New York City’s very own, Your Old Droog is back at it yet again. After dropping off his latest project, ‘Jewelry,’ Droog returns with another new single. This one is called “Crab Cakes” and finds the lyricist getting down over top of something produced by Alchemist. The track, “Crab Cakes,” is pushed by these dark synth melodies, which are paired with some snappy, gritty, and grimey drum sections.

The backdrop provides the perfect home for Droog to excel, and as always, he doesn’t disappoint. He raps: “If I ain’t hit you, I could split you, and then the doc could stitch you / or the pine box will fit you, gotta get your block a vigil.” The track also features a verse from Prodigy, who adds a nice touch that captures the essence of New York’s golden era. This man always delivers something worth your time and attention and he does once again on this one. He provides uncanny wordplay, an incredibly smooth delivery and does so with a vivid knack for attention to detail.

The track is certainly one we wouldn’t suggest sleeping on. Do yourself a favor and press play on “Crab Cakes” in the stream below. Once it’s done, be sure to check out the latest installment of our weekly playlist, ‘A Curation of Sound.’
