Art On Display | George Condo Brings “Paintings & Works on Paper” To Skarstedt Gallery

The one and only George Condo returns to the Skarstedt gallery’s New York City branch. The artist has taken over the gallery to display a great body of work. The exhibition is dubbed “Paintings & Works on Paper.” The collection features several pieces from the seminal American artist. The exhibition showcases predominantly recent pieces, including five large-scale works on paper, four paintings, and a massive painted canvas. The four paintings measure in at 10 x 11 feet, while his painted canvas is over 14 feet tall.

Across the works, the artist highlights “the inner activity of the human psyche in relationship with the external presence of the physical body.” He does so with vivid compositions that feature his unique figurative characters and more. Along with the larger pieces, there is a selection of improvisational drawings. These elevate the visual narratives observed in the bigger works, adding to the intrigue in the process. Take a closer look at the select works in the images below and visit Skarstedt Gallery’s website for further information.

Captivating, compelling, unique and eye-catching, the new showcase is nothing short of remarkable. The exhibition is slated to be on display until December 21, 2019. While you’re here, bookmark us and check back with The Culture Curators for more art and more exhibitions coming soon.
