1987 Porsche 962 Race Car

Rarely do you get a chance to purchase a piece of history. Today is one of those days. Porsche has a storied history on and off of the track. Today we get a look at a 1987 Porsche 962 Race Car, which is currently up for auction. The Porsche 962 was a follow-up to the 956. The machine claimed over 180 victories, including a big win at Le Mans in 1987. This particular vehicle never scored a victory in IMSA competition, but it did survive.

The car is incredibly original, boasting a red and black color scheme with Coke, Yokohama, and Porsche logos. The vehicle has been given extensive maintenance, including installing a Klaus Fischer dyno-tested 3.2-liter flat-six engine. The ride also features a new fuel tank, brakes, turbocharger, and 3M clear paint protection film. If that wasn’t enough, it arrives with FIA papers that run to 2030 and is eligible for a host of events, such as the Le Mans Classic, Daytona 24 Hours, and Sebring 12 Hours Classics.

Sure, it’s a collectible, but it’s also a capable racing machine. Take a closer look at this legendary machine in the images and head over to Collecting Cars to find out more details. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more classic cars, race cars, and new rides coming soon.
