Art In The City | London’s First-Ever Mural Festival Announced

Street art in London is nothing new, but soon it will return on a massive scale. Museums such as the Victoria and Albert and Tate Modern have played a role in making London an art hub. However, street art is a major player in the city’s creative scene as well. Today the Global Street Art organization has announced plans to bring the first-ever Mural Festival to the city. The festival will feature over 20 large-scale works on display across the city. The festival will feature local, national and international talents, including names like Ben Eine, Camille Walala, Seb Lester and Mr. Doodle.

Works will show off a range of subjects, such as colorful typography, poetry painted in script-like text, depictions of cultural figures, and more. In addition to the collection of murals, the two-week-long festival will host a series of events as well. These will include talks, workshops, film screenings, gallery shows, and more. Laura Citron, CEO of promotional company London & Partners, spoke about the festival. She stated: “Culture and the arts are synonymous with London, and it’s the number one reason that visitors come here.” She went on to add, “The London Mural Festival is a fantastic innovative addition to our cultural landscape and really puts London in the spotlight as a dynamic and creative city.”

The event is set to take place from September 1st to September 13th, 2020. Find out more about the showcase from the London Mural Festival’s website and make your plans now. In the meantime, keep it locked here to The Culture Curators for more from the art department coming soon.
