Big Boi & Sleepy Brown – The Big Sleepover

It’s taken a bit longer than expected, but Big Boi and Sleepy Brown have returned. Last Friday, the duo invaded the interwebs with their highly-anticipated album, The Big Sleepover. The two have been dropping singles for a while now, getting us all ready for their long-awaited collaborative project, and after a setback or two, it has finally arrived.

Big Boi recently spoke with Zane Lowe of Apple Music. The ATLien stated: “It just came from a combination of Big Boi and Sleepy Brown.” He went on to add, “It’s a double meaning. Big sleepover, we here to wake people up. The big sleep is over. You know what I’m saying? It’s not just about a slumber party. It’s about awareness and the evolution of the funk.”

The project was first teased back in 2019 when they released the track “Intentions” featuring Cee-Lo Green. The duo showcases their style and influences, combining funk, soul, R&B, and hip hop elements. The project was recorded at Stankonia Studios throughout the last few years.

The album comes in with a total of fifteen tracks with four features from Killer Mike and Cee-Lo and Dungeon Family members Big Rube and Backbone, Scotty ATL, and Kay-I. Standouts worth noting include “Lower Case (no cap)” featuring Killer Mike, “Recreation,” “Return of the Dope Boi” with Killer Mike and Backbone,” and “Do Ya Best” with Scotty ATL. We’re hyped for this one.
