Competition often times brings out the best in us. So, with that being said, thank you to those other guys who tried to dethrone the king of the action camera GoPro. After a less than successful stint in the drone world, some were ready to write off the pioneer of the compact, bombproof, action camera. The heads behind the brand got together and have finally delivered what the fans have been asking for. THINGS! GoPro has offered many accessories for all their models but usually, incorporate them into the next generation of HERO camera, the GoPro HERO8.
Now, they seem to have run out of room on the camera for new stuff. No problem, though. The Media Mod is a 3.5mm shotgun mic integrated into a frame with HDMI out ports and two cold- mounts all in one. A Display Mod mounts a flip-up screen framing for your shots, whether it’s a perfect selfie or a vlog post sure to go viral. The Light Mod adds powerful LED lighting to HERO8 to use with a mount or alone. GoPro has added 4 digital lenses that are just a screen tap away. Narrow, distortion-free Linear, Wide, and SuperView. GoPro HERO7 with HyperSmooth was rad, but they’re giving version 2.0 already. HERO8 now has multiple levels of stabilization—including Boost—and game-changing in-app horizon leveling. TimeWarp also gets an upgrade to 2.0 featuring automatic speed selection. Or just tap to speed it up or slow it down.

SuperPhoto and Improved HDR take photos to the next level. Tweak the contrast, kill the blur, and crush the shot. The revamped algorithm delivers badass action shots with detail you never thought possible. LiveBurst mode captures 1.5 seconds before and after you hit the shutter—so you can pick the perfect shot from 90 still images. Or, share a 3-second 4K video clip. A Night Lapse Video mode allows for epic detail when capturing the magic only nighttime can bring. Better audio through three separate mics elevates the fidelity to truly higher standards too. The king of the action camera has returned once more to remind the people who hold the throne. A small uprising from a drone company trying to make a camera may have rushed the release, but we’re glad they did.
