More For The Fight | Nike Gives Back To Frontline Healthcare Workers

The unimaginable weight of administering care to those affected by Covid-19 has been placed on the shoulders of our Frontline Healthcare Workers. It’s starting to take its toll on their mental and physical well-being. Now, something else is being thrown on them. It’s their feet this time, though.

The juggernaut in sportswear, Nike is stepping up an already mind-blowing contribution to the fight against the virus. Besides manufacturing full-face shields and air-purifying respirator lenses or donating sportswear kits for healthcare workers, and also pledging $2 million USD from employees, NIKE has yet another philanthropic form to take on. In a next-level effort to help, however, they can the Oregonian economic giant is teaming up with nonprofit Good360 in the US and other local organizations in the EU to donate 140,000 pieces of footwear, apparel, and equipment to the Frontline Healthcare staff around the world.

Nike has already developed a sneaker designed explicitly with healthcare workers in mind. The Nike Air Zoom Pulse was created with the Oregon Health & Science University and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon. Thirty thousand pairs of the specialty kicks will be given to various hospitals and health networks in Chicago, LA, Memphis, and New York City as well as the Veterans Health Administration. An additional 2,500 pairs will be distributed across Europe as well.
