The 2019-2020 NBA season is off and running. Kyrie Irving made his debut with the Brooklyn Nets, and he did so in style. The NBA superstar took to Brooklyn’s home opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves, doing so with the latest Nike Kyrie 5 SpongeBob SquarePants collection on his feet. The sneakers are certainly a colorful way to elevate your footwear collection.
The eye-catching iteration of the Kyrie 5, dubbed the ‘Pineapple House’ draws inspiration for the shoe from his favorite childhood show. Influenced heavily by Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants, the sneaker features a printed upper representing a pineapple. The kicks are detailed with a leaf-like overlay on the laces, accented with blue on the tongue and Swoosh.
The sneakers are then finished off with a white sole unit, offering a nice contrasting touch. Each shoe from the Nike x SpongeBob SquarePants collection represents a character from the early 2000’s show.
