The need for speed is very real around these parts. We stay on the hunt for new, eye-catching rides to bring to your attention, and today we get a look at something special. Today we get a look at a Donkervoort D8 GTO-JD70 Sports Car. Founded back in 1978 by namesake Joop Donkervoort. The auto manufacturer has been building small-volume, ultra-lightweight sports cars for forty years. The open-wheel design has been updated as technology has progressed.
Today we get a look at the manufacturer’s latest creation, the D8 GTO-JD70, released in honor of Joop’s 70th birthday. This sleek and unique looking machine features a long hood which holds a turbocharged Audi inline-five making 415 horsepower. While 415 horsepower isn’t anything too wild these days, combining it with a total weight of under 1,500 pounds makes for something quite stunning. The ride is capable of a 0-62 MPH time of less than three seconds.
This puts the JD70 in the top echelon of supercars, while the handling and braking don’t disappoint either. Donkervoort claims over 2gs of later acceleration, and 1.02gs of peak braking force. The ride is as eye-catching as it is powerful, rocking bold attention to detail and a contemporary look inside and out. Deliveries are set to start in Spring 2020, with orders for the 70 units being made open now.
