It’s been a minute since we heard some new music from Paul Wall. Today that all changes as the Houston native is back with something new called “Overcame.” The track finds the wordsmith showing off his lyrical talents alongside Statik Selektah and Benny The Butcher. The track is the lead single from Paul and Statik’s joint project, Give Thanks, which drops on Thanksgiving Day.
“Overcame” is driven by this soulful backdrop full of smooth vocal samples and these incredibly contagious drum sections. The track provides the duo with a nice home to do their thing. Benny leads things off, effortlessly doing his thing before passing the mic to Paul Wall. The southern native takes to the laid back, soulful instrumental and flawlessly does his thing. He delivers some of his uncanny bars, effortlessly showcasing his lyrical prowess in the process. This isn’t the one to sleep on. The fellas deliver something special and certainly build the hype for their impending project in the process.
